Cyrus go by many names-King Cyrus, Cyrus the Virus, Cy, Stinky, Ninja, or Houdini. He has been know to open the back door on his own and come inside. He comes in quietly and you may not know it for hours. He can just suddenly appear and we will have no idea when or how he came inside.
Cyrus was born here on our farm. Jax and Belle were his parents. He got the best of both of them. My son chose him because he was the ring leader of his litter and wanted to be with us at all times. Keeping him was the best decision. Cyrus may look like he is ignoring you, but you can bet, he is watching and listening.
Cyrus is a protective guy. Especially when he knows that I am home alone. He absolutely hates delivery and garbage trucks, but waits patiently for the truck drivers to give him a cookie. He is in constant need of grooming because he will not stay out of the creek behind our farm.
Hap E. Hogan-named for an awesome Marvel character. We looked for a red-tri male to add to our kennel for a while. Hogan came from a breeder that isn;t too far from us. He has no relation to any of our dogs but like them, he carries a blue and red gene. We hope he sires some beautiful pups.
Hogan is so different from our dogs. He has a bit of a larger frame and weighs a bit more than the others. He is a gorgeous dark red with copper accents and a few freckles. He has light amber eyes like Ripley’s. I think his bloodline comes from workers. He is so busy that i had his dna tested to make sure I didn’t;t have a Border Collie. Hogan is 100% Australian Shepherd.
Hogan is very active and silly and smart. He is always moving, always watching, and runs so very much. We call him our bull in a china closet. He has one speed and that speed is WIDE OPEN. Hogan LOVES being sprayed or splashed with water. He is so serious about catching the water that you can hear his teeth chomp together.
Chibs is a fella that was born to our Cyrus and Stormie. We absolutely fell in love with him because of his resemblance to Jax, our original Aussie. He won’t be bred to any of our females because of the close relation or the risks of double Merle breedings. We will offer him as a stud for anyone interested. Chibs is the baby of the pack and is spoiled freaking rotten.
Chibs is such a handsome blue Merle. He inherited some beautiful marbled eyes from his momma and a thick full coat from his dad. He has the sweetest personality and loves a good snuggle…until he gets too hot. Chibs will run his nose up under your arm or hand and toss you around until you give him scratches. Don’t stop though, or he starts tossing your arm all over again.
Chibs gets preferential treatment because he was run over and his hip was fractured requiring surgery. You’d never know it though. Chibs runs fast and loves to chase the side by sides or delivery trucks. He will playfully maul the cats but never hurts any of them. He loves bacon and waits patiently for his piece any time we are cooking some.
Ripley was named for two of the baddest characters from movie/tv ever- Yellowstone’s Rip Wheeler and Alien’s Ellen Ripley. Like those characters, Ripley is fierce and loyal. Ripley’s bestie is my parents’ Scottish terrier. She protects him at all costs.
Ripley came from another breeder in Lake Charles, Louisiana. We got her in during the height of the pandemic in 2020 right affter Hurricane Laura devastated Lake Charles. She has been my girl from day one. She is my shadow. If I’m going, she expects to be right with me.
Ripley is a bit smaller than my other ladies. She had a small litter of 5 last year. She and Cyrus made some beautiful blue Merle babies. I hope her next litter throws more red.
Stormie Girl, AKA Momma, came to us from Kentucky when she was about 8 weeks old. We fell in love with her the moment we saw those eyes. When she finally arrived here in Louisiana, it was nasty, storming weather—That’s how she got her name. Stormie is a goofy girl. She smiles at people all the time.
Stormie thinks she is a squirrel dog. She trees them and has even caught a few. We joke that we taught her the “Harry Potter” spell petrificus totalus. She will fall over in submission on her back and lay there like that forever. She just wants a belly rub. She absolutely hates a leash and will do an alligator death roll trying to get it off.
Stormie has been the best momma we have ever had here on the farm. She usually has around 10 pups and they are aways fat and healthy. She can hear a candy wrapper or treat box rattle from a mile away. It does not matter what you are eating, she expects a bite and will stare a hole through you till she gets it.
Jetta Bug! This girl can see your heart and soul when she looks at you. her eyes speak volumes about her kind spirit. She is Cyrus’ full sister, so we have had her spayed. She is the greatest, most fun Auntie. She plays with all the babies and genuinely loves on them. It is a lot of fun to watch her with the puppies.
Jetta was almost solid black except her back toes and chest when she was born. She has gotten more white in her face and coat as she has aged. She even has white eyebrows now. She and Ripley will play ball as long as you can throw it…if you can keep them from wrestling with and stealing the ball from each other.
Jetta is a super watch dog. If anything is amiss around here, she is the first to let me know. Since my mother-in-law moved in next door, Jetta has taken to guarding her House as much as she watches our house. Much like her dad, Jax, she is a rockstar. She has his eyes and spirit.
